ENTEGRITY TO DEMONSTRATE SAML INTEROPERABILITY AT BURTON GROUP CATALYST CONFERENCE– FIRST TIME IN EUROPE

Munich– September 17, 2002
John Hughes, Chief Technology Officer of Entegrity Solutions, will be participating in the SAML Interoperability Workshop at the upcoming Burton Catalyst Conference, in Munich from September 24th to 26th. This is the first time that SAML interoperability will have been demonstrated to a live audience in Europe, and is a strong endorsement not only of the emerging SAML standard but also of the commitment that Entegrity has made in bringing SAML-compliant applications to market.

At the same time, Entegrity announces that it has become one of the latest members of the industry-wide Liberty Alliance, and as such joins the consortium’s efforts to develop open and interoperable specifications for federated network identity.

“The advancement of the SAML standard and the momentum now behind the Liberty Alliance shows how great the need is for interoperable identities to allow authorisation of common users between federated partners”, said John Hughes. “Entegrity is fully behind such initiatives because we know it is what our customers and partners want."

Commenting on Microsoft’s participation in the event, Hughes continues, “Microsoft's announcement of support for SAML is to be welcomed and is yet another endorsement of what will unquestionably emerge as the standard for security interoperability for Web Services. But what does this mean for Microsoft's own centralised Single Sign On solution, .NET Passport? Although it has been around for some time, adoption from other vendors and Microsoft business customers has been poor. Surely it's only a matter of time before they give their business customers what they want with SAML and acknowledge that the current .NET Passport system is nothing more than a login mechanism to MSN and Hotmail and not the answer to industry wide Single Sign On they originally claimed it to be."
